JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Antoine Griezmann says he still wants to move to the United States and play in Major League Soccer (MLS) after his contract runs out at Barcelona
Last year, the France international said that playing in the MLS had long been one of his career goals.
The 30-year-old has three years left on his contract at Camp Nou, and says he plans to leave Europe to experience the American lifestyle and watch basketball.
"I still have three years left. I have to pay attention to my body, because at any moment it can change," he told French media Le Figaro.
"My contract with Barcelona runs until June 2024, and after that I think it would be the right time to go to the United States."
"I love the country, its culture, the NBA, and the passion for adventure draws me in, but I also have a family I need to move there."
"I'd like to end my career there but when I'm still pretty good on the pitch and winning the MLS, rather than coming in with nothing and not being able to do anything on the pitch."
Griezmann himself was Barcelona's second top scorer in La Liga last season, behind superstar Lionel Messi.
The former Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid forward scored 13 goals as the Camp Nou side finished third in La Liga.
He also scored two goals in the Champions League and three in the Copa del Rey, including one in the final as the Catalans beat Athletic Bilbao 4-0.
Griezmann is currently a regular choice for Didier Deschamps' France national team.
He scored in each of their pre-Euro 2020 friendly wins against Wales and Bulgaria, and played the full 90 minutes as they beat Germany 1-0 in their first game at Euro 2020, as reported by Antara.
