JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen has signed 16-year-old Danish teenager Zidan Sertdemir from Nordsjaelland until 2024, the football club announced.

Sertdemir, who plays as a central midfielder, is a Denmark U-17 international player.

He will soon train with the Leverkusen first team under new head coach Gerardo Seoane when pre-season begins in early July.

"Zidan Sertdemir has a special talent. We have been after him for three years," said Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes, as quoted by AFP on Tuesday (06/15/2021).

"We see great potential in Zidane, and we believe he will make progress in the world of professional football.

"That's the reason why we immediately put him into training together with the first team," said Rolfes.

Apart from Leverkusen, Sertdemir is also reportedly being pursued by Arsenal and Ajax, while Leverkusen's Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg, Moenchengladbach and Hoffenheim were also trying to make an approach with the youngster.

Leverkusen finished sixth in Germany's top flight competition last season, and has qualified for the Europa League, as reported by Antara.
