JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Today, life is so close to technology that it forces us to always be in front of our gadgets and electronic goods.

These activities have a negative impact, not only for the health of our eyes, but also for the health of our skins due to radiation exposure.

Lila Dewi from Research and Development at Global Cosmetics Indonesia, said devices such as laptops, phones, tablets, TVs, and even LED light bulbs that emit blue light are common, but have a bad impact on facial skin if they are exposed to blue light for too long.

"Blue light turns out to have an impact that can be harmful to the skin if it is frequently exposed to it. Exposure to blue light is even more problematic for people with dark skin color," said Dewi in a press release quoted on Saturday (11/20/2021).

In a 2010 study published in The Journal of Investigative Dermatology, it was shown that blue light triggered hyperpigmentation in medium to dark skin tones, while lighter skin tones were relatively unaffected.

The negative effect of blue light can stimulate the production of free radicals in the skin, which can accelerate the appearance of aging.

The medical community categorizes skin color based on how it reacts to UV light.

Type one is the lightest color with UV sensitivity. Type II skin is exposed to blue light but does not experience pigmentation.

Meanwhile, colored skin will darken, and the darkness lasts for several weeks. Blue light can even damage DNA, as reported by Antara.
