JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM – A man from California often complains of problems about his bladder. Apparently, the bladder stone of the unnamed man is as big as an ostrich egg.

The large bladder stone was discovered after the 64-year-old patient went to a hospital complaining of pain on the lower left side of his abdomen and difficulty urinating.

A CT scan showed bladder stone developing in the patient, which is a common condition for older men aged 50 years or older. The stone measured 4.7 inches by 3.7 inches by 3 inches. After the surgery to remove the stone, doctors confirmed the weight of the stone reaching 770 grams, as reported by Daily Mail.

The unidentified man's abdominal scan also revealed another smaller stone in his left ureter, which is a tube that carries urine from the kidneys to the bladder.

According to the report published in The New England Journal of Medicine, the doctor who treated the man explained that the patient had bladder cancer more than a decade earlier.

The surgeon then removed his bladder, but built the so-called 'neobladder' out of his intestine. Like a regular bladder, the neobladder is connected to the ureters and urethra, creating new ways for urine to exit the body, , which could increase a person's risk of developing stones, the authors said.

In addition to surgery to remove the stone, the man was given laser treatment to break up other stone in his left ureter. The journal said that there were no further problems after his surgery, and now he is monitored by the doctors.
