JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto has pushed for world peace and conveyed Indonesia's commitment to good relations with friendly countries.
This was conveyed by Prabowo in a speech at the 17th International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Manama Dialogue 2021, Bahrain, on Saturday (11/20) local time.
Prabowo said nowadays universal values have become more common with the digital information revolution.
The values in question are the global desire for peace, freedom of expression, social justice and creativity, he said.
"Those who hold power and power in this world need to pause. They need to emphasize values, rules, respect for human rights, protection of minorities, and protection of the further degradation of our environment," said Defense Minister Prabowo in a press release.
He continued that strength that is balanced with virtue is the key to world peace.
"Leaders must reflect virtue and respect. The great powers of the world need to live this. Only then will history judge them. Not only to become a great power, but more important and eternal, which is to become a great civilization," Prabowo said.
Indonesia itself, he said, emphasized its commitment to always be open to external relations by always trying to create a harmonious atmosphere for peaceful coexistence with all parties.
Regarding the attitude in multilateral relations with various countries, Defense Minister Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia is committed to continuing to maintain good relations with all countries and maintain neutrality.
"Through ASEAN, together with countries in the Southeast Asia Region, Indonesia will always try to help resolve problems between countries that arise with the principle of mutual respect for the sovereignty of each country," he explained.
Regarding how Indonesia articulates defense and security in relation to its relations with the Middle East and countries in the Arabian Peninsula, Prabowo said that as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia has very close relations with the Middle East.
Therefore, Indonesia continues to observe any complications that occur in regional security in the Middle East Region that may affect grassroots communities in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Manama Dialogue is an important element of the Middle East security architecture.
IISS is a forum for ministers, experts, opinion leaders, and the business community as a forum to discuss the most pressing security challenges in the Middle East and has been implemented since 2004.
The International Dialogue Forum, with the theme of "Multilateralism and the Middle East," became an important moment for policymakers and leaders from across the Middle East, North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, to have a dialogue in an effort to find answers to the most pressing policy issues in the region. this.
