Social Affairs Minister Visits Remote Villages at Agats, Spends Night at Agats Diocese Complex

ASMAT, NETRALNEWS.COM - For Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, flying 3,500 kilometers, from Jakarta to Mozes Kilangin Airport, Timika, is not the end of her trip. After just a short break, around 6:30 am local time, the Social Affairs Minister and a small group had again traveled towards Agats, Asmat Regency.

At Agats, the Social Affairs Minister visited remote villages in Agats, and stayed at the Agats diocese complex. Landing at Kurs III Airport at 09.35 in the morning, Tri Rismaharini, also known as Risma, continued to move towards Erosaman Village and Amagais Village at Derken District, Agats, Papua.

To reach these two villages, the Social Affairs Minister must travel along the river by fast ship twice. The trip through the river required a total travel time of about 40 minutes from the Kaswari pier to Erosaman Village for 30 minutes, and Amagais Village for about 10 minutes.

In Erosaman, Risma visited the Community Center, which is planned to be equipped with supporting facilities in the form of water treatments. The social center has also obtained guaranteed assistance for 45 families, and KAT (remote, indigenous tribes) empowerment for 23 groups/communities in the form of vegetable agriculture and hydroponic plants. The total assistance is worth IDR1.3 billion. In Kampung Erosaman, the Social Affairs Minister also distributed snacks for children, milk, boiled eggs, sports equipment in the form of football and volleyball balls, and dialogue with the community and village heads.

While in Amagais Village, Risma observed egg-laying chicken farms, and had the 'harvest' of eggs at the location of the farm which was being developed. This farm is one of the locations of laying hens that are channeled by the Ministry of Social Affairs through Agats' diocese. The Ministry of Social Affairs, through the Directorate General of Social Empowerment in collaboration with the Diocese of Agats also helped the public transportation in the form of 3 longboat boats measuring 40 PK to facilitate the accessibility of the people of Agats.

Other assistance includes a suitable clothes for 100 KK, additional food for 100 children and economic empowerment assistance, namely the construction of kiosks 5 kiosks. The total assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs channeled through Agats's diocese is worth a total of IDR1.6 billion.

In Agats, Mensos received a warm welcome and enthusiasm for the community, traditional leaders and religious leaders. Asmat Regent Elisa Elisa Kambu expressed appreciation to the Social Affairs Minister.

"In the 76 years since Indonesia's independence, Mrs. Risma is the first official who has set foot and stayed at our distant place," said the Regent, as in a written statement that Netralnews received on Monday (11/15/2021).

On behalf of the community, Elisa expressed thanks. Moreover, the Social Affairs Minister visited with various assistance to improve the welfare of the local community.

During a visit to the derocur, Risma also opened a dialogue with the local community. In these conversations, she received information on the needs of the community.

"We will help with generators, so that people here get electricity to support everyday life. I prepared a boat assistance to improve community mobility. I have also tried to open an internet connection," Risma said.

After visiting the two villages, the Social Affairs Minister Moves towards the Agats Diocese complex on Jl. Frans Kaisepo, Agats, Asmat Regency. Here Mensos and the group was welcomed by Bishop Mgr Aloysius Murwito.

The day before the afternoon, Social Minister and the group decided to spend the night at AGATS diocese complex, before leaving the next day for Jayapura for the next service agenda.

On the sidelines of overnight in the diocese, the Social Affairs Minister greeted the locals at the location while talking casually around the garden in the diocese. Risma was very impressed with the beautiful and peaceful atmosphere in the Agats diocese, and would not hesitate to return to Agats.
