JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - McDonald's Corp. has announced it suffered hacks in South Korea and Taiwan, exposing data from a number of employees and consumers.

"While we may be able to block access after identification, our investigation shows that few files were accessed, some of which contained personal data," McDonald's said in a statement on Saturday (06/12/2021), as quoted from Reuters.

McDonald's promised to notify regulators and the affected consumers.

The hackers reportedly took data in the form of emails, phone numbers and shipping addresses.

The global fast food franchise ensures that no payment information were stolen by hackers.

The hacks in South Korea and Taiwan came to light following investigations from external consultants after spotting unauthorized activity on their networks.

McDonald's also said their daily operations were not affected by this hacking case, and this case was not ransomware, as reported by Antara.
