PT Freeport Indonesia

JAKARTA, NNC - A number of environmental problems due to PT Freeport Indonesia (FI) mining activities were said to have been completed. However, they were not.

Environmental issues that have not been resolved are Hazardous Toxic Waste (B3 Waste) in the form of tailings.

"The environmental problems at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Decree are almost entirely completed except for tailings, we will complete the roadmap later," said Inspector General of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ilyas Assad at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources office, Jakarta, Thursday (9/27/2018)

Ilyas Amini said Ministry of Environment and Forestry had published the Ministerial Decree regarding environmental pollution from PT FI activities. Then, the letter containing the order for environmental improvement has been handled and are waiting for the completion of the tailing issues and anticipation of similar events in the future.

Thus, the Ministry and P TFI are preparing a road map strategy to anticipate environmental damage.

Meanwhile Inalum President Director, Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that the highlighted environmental issues had been calculated in the divestment of 51 percent of PT Freeport's shares, which amount to US$ 3.85 billion, equivalent to IDR56 trillion.
