JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesia Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman says that Indonesia has now become an exporter of shallots to six neighboring countries. In the previous years, Indonesia was a shallots importer.

"In the past we imported shallots, now we have exported [shallots] to six countries," Amran said in Cirebon on Thursday while attending the Ministry of Agriculture's Program of Appreciation and Synchronization in 2019 at Ranggaiati Field.

According to Amran, Indonesia has now become a producer of shallots and it should be grateful for everything, because of this achievement thanks to hard work so that they can be self-sufficient in shallots. "Now that we are producers of shallots, we are grateful for the results of our hard work," he said.

The Minister said the six shallot export destination countries include Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and several other countries.

Amran added that for overall exports Indonesia had been able to export 42 million tons, and that had increased by almost 10 million tons or 29 percent compared to 2013.
