JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Telecommunications service provider Ericsson estimates that Indonesia has the potential to use 5G networks in a number of industrial sectors.

"5G really exists, even though last year we were still talking about it," said President Director of Ericsson for Indonesia and Timor Leste, Jerry Soper, in Jakarta.

Although the 5G network is globally available this year, Indonesia is estimated to need more time to adopt the technology because of infrastructure and regulations that are not ready.

Ericsson predicts Indonesian operators will get an additional 30 percent of revenue in 2026 from 5G.

As reported by Antara, Soper said, based on Ericsson's study there were still doubts about the implementation of 5G in Indonesia. In fact, according to him, Indonesia has the potential to use 5G in a number of industrial sectors.

In the automotive sector, 5G can be used to create window augmented reality (AR) and windshield AR, as well as entertainment devices in cars.

In the entertainment sector, 5G has the potential to be used in virtual reality (VR) cinema, including making 5G augmented events.

Then, for gaming and AR and VR, this latest network can be used on AR maps, learning with AR or VR, VR cloud gaming and low-frequency cloud gaming.

In mobile broadband, 5G will speed up the transfer of data in gigabytes per second.

For homes connected with smart devices, aka smart home, 5G can be applied to alarm systems to televisions that support 5G networks.

Finally in the field of shipping and communication, 5G can support sending via drones and payment systems with facial recognition.
