SINGAPORE, NETRALNEWS.COMIndonesia has successfully booked transactions of more than 5,971 pax or IDR 13.8 billion during the Sales Mission Adventure event at Violet Oon, Clarke Quay, Singapore, May 8, 2019.

Assistant Deputy for Marketing Development I Regional I of the Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) Dessy Ruhati, said Indonesia's participation in this event was very important to introduce Indonesia's adventure tourism potential.

"Moreover, Indonesia has more than 100 incredible adventure destinations. This makes Indonesia a world-class adventure tourism destination, "said Dessy, in a press release on Friday (05/10/2019).

The promotion efforts bring good news, Kemenpar brings 11 industries (accommodation, travel agents (TA) / Tour Operators (TO), special interest tourism managers). They come from North Sumatra, South Sumatra, West Java, DKI Jakarta, Banten, D.I Yogyakarta, and Bali.

They were met with 31 buyers from Singapore. Singapore buyers said they were interested in bringing Singapore tourists to adventure tours in Indonesia.

"Every year Indonesia is visited by around 100,000 tourists, special interest in adventurers from around the world. According to the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), 67 percent of adventure tourist spending is done in the destinations they visit. This shows that adventure tourism is very important in improving the economy of local communities. "he said.

Dessy Ruhati added that this program was very effective. Because it will bring together Indonesian sellers with Singapore buyers.

"This activity was designed with table top or B to B activities with the mingle concept. Because activities with the B to B format are far more effective in pursuing the target number of tourists," said Dessy.

Choosing Singapore to be the location of this sales mission is also not without cause. Singapore is one of the focuses of the foreign tourist market, especially ASEAN, to Indonesia. Where the total visits throughout 2018 (January - December 2018) were 1,750,913 foreign tourists with 16% growth compared to the previous year with 1,512,813 foreign tourists.

Moreover, Indonesia has benefited from territorial proximity with Singapore. Where Singapore has several cross-border points with Indonesia, namely Batam and Bintan. Singapore has also become an excellent international hub to explore.

Besides that, the lack of tourist attractions in Singapore is also the potential of Indonesia to promote Indonesia's diverse natural and cultural wealth.

"In 2019, the Ministry of Tourism targets Singaporean tourists at 2.12 million visits from a total target of 20 million visits from all foreign markets. For that we also need to be more active in exploring the Singapore tourist market," said Dessy.
