LOMBOK, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesia Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Areas, and Transmigration, through the Director General of Development of Disadvantaged Areas, Samsul Widodo, said that Lombok is one of the pilot projects locations for digital tourism development.

The Ministry of Villages collaborated with Caventer Indonesia and GOERS to gradually develop tourism destinations in Lombok. GOERS and Caventer Indonesia will help by making Lombok tourism packages that will be marketed digitally and build a cashless payment system at each destination.

Samsul said, the implementation of a digital tourism package is expected to attract as many tourists as possible to related destinations.

The implementation of the cashless payment system is also expected to improve the destination management system in the future.

"The implementation of the cashless payment system is expected to be better, especially in financial management or data mining. So far, financial management has become a weakness in most destinations in Lombok and other disadvantaged areas," Samsul said.

Samsul further said that the digital platform in the tourism sector can be used to promote tourism destinations in disadvantaged areas with wider coverage, so as to reach increasing global tourists.

This statement was conveyed by Samsul because digital development in Indonesia became one of the fastest and gradually entered in all lines of life. Moreover, digital penetration in Indonesia has also entered rural areas, including those with underdeveloped areas.

"By collaborating with tourism startup activists, tourism promotion in disadvantaged areas can be done in a more effective and efficient way," said Samsul.
