JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesia Ministry of Industry and the Indonesia National Police (Polri) have agreed to synergize to create security in the industrial sector and optimize the use of industrial resources in order to improve the conduciveness of the business climate in the country. This strategic step is carried out because the industry plays an important role in supporting the national economy.

In order to achieve this goal, Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto and Head of the Indonesian National Police General Police Tito Karnavian signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Security Assistance, Law Enforcement, and Utilization of Resources in the Industrial Sector.

The cooperation is a follow-up of the previous MoU between the Ministry of Industry and the National Police on the Implementation of Safeguards for National Vital Objects in the Industrial Sector which have expired on August 28, 2018.

"In order to facilitate and streamline the role of the government, both at the central and regional levels, increasing coordination between institutions or agencies becomes important so that collaboration can be harmonized in carrying out their respective duties," said the Minister of Industry in Jakarta, Monday (05/20/2019 )

According to him, the efforts made by both parties not only provided benefits to the Ministry of Industry and the National Police, but also could have a positive impact on industry players and the Indonesian public in general. "Hopefully this Memorandum of Understanding can be followed up and run well after the target," he said.

Airlangga said that the government is focusing on boosting national economic growth, one of which is through improving the performance of the manufacturing industry sector. Moreover, in the context of current global competition, industry is the backbone of the domestic economy.

"For this reason, the role of the central and regional governments in encouraging and accelerating growth and increasing the competitiveness of the industrial sector is crucial. One of its roles is through providing facilities for industry players in the form of fiscal and non-fiscal facilities, "he explained.

Referring to World Bank data, the reality of industrialized countries in the world, the contribution of the manufacturing industry to the economy averages around 17 percent. However, five countries whose industries are able to contribute above the average, one of which is Indonesia, reaching 20.2 percent. While the other 4 countries are China (28.8%), South Korea (27%), Japan (21%), and Germany (20.6%).

On the same occasion, the National Police Chief welcomed the initiation of the Ministry of Industry which has provided an opportunity for the National Police to contribute to realizing the ideals of Indonesia to become one of the industrialized countries. "For us, this cooperation is very important and monumental because the security and welfare sector is like two sides of a coin that gives each other value," he said.

Tito explained, good welfare will make the community more orderly. "Or those who are fulfilled their needs, theoretically the crime will also decrease. On the contrary, a safe situation will also improve welfare because the economy is running well too, "he said.

In addition, Indonesia has the potential to become a super power country in the economic sector. "From one of the sources that I have read, the super power country has at least three conditions, namely having a large workforce, abundant natural resources, and a large expanse of area," he explained. However, Indonesia needs to improve its competence. human resources related to the momentum of the demographic bonus.

According to Tito, the industry will be a prime sector in addition to the agriculture, tourism and other sectors. Because, industrial activities have a broad impact on the economy such as employment and investment.

"In this case, the National Police is trying to build and create a security system for all parties so that it is profitable for investors, the industry can develop, people can enjoy it, and the government also benefits. For that, we will maximally help to develop the industrial sector, "he added.

The scope of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry and Police this time includes the exchange of data and / or information, security assistance, law enforcement, utilization of facilities and infrastructure, and capacity building of human resources. This Memorandum of Understanding is valid for a period of five years and monitoring and evaluation will be carried out at least once a year.

Until now, there are 56 industrial companies spread across 76 locations and 31 industrial estate companies spread across 22 locations, which have been designated as National Vital Objects in the Industrial Sector.
