JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesia Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya says that foreign tourist arrivals in January-April 2019 reached 5.12 million toursts, or at 1.3 million tourist arrivals per month, which was still below the psychological figure.

"This 1.3 million figure is not good because our psychological target is 1.5 million per month or 18 million foreign tourists at the end of this year," Arief Yahya said at the Ministry of Tourism office in Jakarta, on Tuesday (06/11/2019).

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) announced the number of foreign tourists visiting in April 2019 by 1.3 million, down 2.7 percent compared to March 2019.

Cumulatively, in January-April 2019 the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia was 5.12 million or grew by 3.22 percent compared to the same period last year.

Arief Yahya added that to optimize the achievement of the target of foreign tourists in the next eight months the Ministry of Tourism and tourism businesses would carry out four main strategies, namely border tourism, hot deals, tourism hubs and low cost carrier terminals (LCCT).
