Indonesia to Facilitate Local, Chinese Businesses in Infrastructure Development (kaskus)

JAKARTA NETRALNEWS COM - In a series of cooperation between Indonesia and China, the Indonesia Business Visit and China International Contractors Association (CHINCA), the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs through the Deputy for Infrastructure Coordination held a meeting between delegations of the People's Republic of China and Indonesian businesses at Sari Pan Pacific Hotel, Jakarta (6/15/2019).

This activity was attended by 31 business actors from CHINCA's representatives and leaders from various companies in the fields of energy, transportation and infrastructure development, manufacturing machinery, as well as Chinese finance or financial institutions and filled with interactive discussions from each business actor from both countries. Most of these companies come from the city of Beijing and its surroundings and are a large group of companies or state-owned enterprises.

As an initial illustration, Deputy for Infrastructure Coordination Ridwan Djamaludin said that Indonesia was still focused on Java, the government hoped that in particular in the field of infrastructure development to be more evenly distributed to other regions.

"80% of our GDP (Gross Domestic Product) contribution is still from Java, in Indonesia we are aware that progress in development is still needed evenly, so that our efforts now are to carry out development in areas outside Java so that equity is better, explained Deputy Ridwan.

Since 2017 the Indonesian government has been based on input from private companies and state-owned companies, compiling proposals which were later collected into 30 projects in 4 development corridors with a value of 91.1 billion dollars.

The corridor includes, in the North Sumatra corridor, focusing on western economic rights to facilitate ASEAN and its surrounding cooperation, the North Kalimantan corridor focuses on energy and mineral development, North Sulawesi is prepared for the growth of the Pacific region in the fields of industry and industry, while Bali is prepared for the center innovation in the ASEAN region.

Deputy Ridwan also stressed that this collaboration is mutually beneficial and all countries that will invest in Indonesia must fulfill 5 criteria and 3 Cooperation system for Basic Principles of GMF - BRI Cooperation.

"I want to emphasize, we are not only cooperating commercially in the short term, but we are also opening space in the long term, outside these 4 corridors there are also non-corridor projects that have been initiated by industry players who only need government policy support," added Deputy Ridwan.

CHINCA Chairperson Representative Xin Xiuming, considered that Indonesia experienced extraordinary economic development, and was very enthusiastic to participate in infrastructure development in Indonesia.

"We encourage the spirit of our members to join in development, and as a Chinese infrastructure contractor organization, we also want to establish good communication with Indonesia, we believe with our efforts and support from various parties, the two-state cooperation in infrastructure will run well," Mr. Xin added.

In addition, the Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia added that bilateral relations would be even better if felt by people from both countries, business people who would realize the program of this bilateral relationship.

This activity is expected to obtain information on cooperation within the framework of the Global Maritime Fulcrum Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor (RCEC) - Belt and Road Initiative between Indonesia and China and to obtain opportunities for project investment opportunities in the fields of infrastructure, energy, public works by direct interaction between Indonesian business people and China.
