JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Menpora International Amateur Golf Cup 2019 tournament at the Emeralda Golf Club, Jl. Cimanggis Boulevard, Tapos, Depok, West Java, on October 24-26, has been a success.
The peak of the tournament, which was attended by 79 participants from 15 countries, was held on Saturday (10/26/2019), and was also attended by Indonesia Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali.
The peak event also presented prizes to the winners of the Menpora International Amateur Golf Cup 2019.
The success of the event could not be separated from the role of the sponsors, including Rych Water mineral water and Rych Coffee, which has been faithfully sponsoring the annual event since 2015.
Rudy Chandra, Commissioner of Rych Water and Rych Coffee, disclosed the reasons why the company fully supported this activity for four consecutive years.
He said the support was conducted as a form of Rych Water's commitment to support the Sports Ministry's program in introducing sports, particularly golf, early on to Indonesian children.
"There are a lot of product holders that like to spend their advertising on print or others. For me, I think the spending would be more useful by sponsoring [sports activities]," Rudy said to Netralnews.com.
"The sponsoring is conducted at the same time to support the success of the Sports Minister's program, which in turn builds the love of sports among youths, particularly in golf," he continued.
In addition, Rudy said that through this international tournament, the name of Indonesia is increasingly becoming known in sports, especially among golf lovers. This is what has inspired Rudy to sponsor the Menpora International Amateur Golf Cup.
"I see that this is a good program that will carry Indonesia's name. There are also not too many sponsors, yet, and that was what inspired me to this event," he said.
Furthermore, Rudy said he would continue supporting the Menpora International Amateur Golf Cup in the coming years so that this activity is more widely known in various countries. "We are both praying and hoping that the participation brings good results for the sport of golf in the country," he said
On the same occasion, Sports Minister Zainudin Amali gave appreciation to Rych Water and other sponsors of the international amateur golf tournament.
"We know it is not easy, it is not easy to host a tournament. In the current size, it is still quite expensive. So we appreciate the involvement of all parties, especially sponsors, to have a sense of responsibility and also participate in sponsoring tournaments like this," he said.
"No matter how good the coaching, if there is a lack of number of quality competitions, do not expect us to have achievements, do not expect our athletes to excel. Competition, tournaments are a prerequisite for us to be able to have achievements," continued Zainudin.
Furthermore, the Sports Minister hopes that in the future, this international golf tournament will be even bigger by involving more participants from various countries. He claimed to have discussed the matter with the sponsors, and they have agreed.
"Therefore, I urge all parties who have the ability to sponsor competitions. I had a chance to talk to the sponsors of this event, and they wanted to participate, and I have said that next year the tournament will be increased, and hopefully many people will be invited," he explained.
"So we invite other countries, and other participants must also take advantage of our competitions. Mentally, the athletes are trained to compete with anyone, and are not only good at home ground competitions," Zainudin added.
