JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - After expanding to Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, Gojek co-CEOs Kevin Aluwi and Andre Soelistyo plan to expand the company's services to three other countries by 2020.
"Hopefully we will add two or three [countries] again next year," Andre said in a media gathering at the celebration of Gojek's 9th Birthday in Jakarta, Saturday (11/02/2019).
The two countries included in the Gojek list for service expansion are Malaysia and the Philippines.
"We are preparing to enter the two countries. The Philippines already has a payment service, but does not have Gojek services yet," Andre said.
Andre hopes the Gojek services in Indonesia can also be conducted in other countries.
He continued that Gojekhad been communicating with the leaders of the two countries for expansion to choose suitable services in the countries.
"What we have learned over the past five years is that our services are suitable for developing countries with the issue of the country's infrastructure efficiency and the opportunity to help MSMEs or people who have never done financial services, whhich is well suited in Southeast Asia," Andre said, as reported by Antara.
In Singapore, for example, Gojek focused on transportation services because of the increasing need for people to move from one point to another
Meanwhile, food delivery services are claimed to be suitable for the Vietnamese market.
GoFood's internal data on the international market said Go-Viet's inter-food messaging service claimed to have led the food delivery market since it was launched in November 2018 in Ho Chi Minh City, and March 2019 in Hanoi.
Andre said 20 percent of total Gojek service customers came from abroad.
"Going forward, we have a dream that service contributions from other countries can be 50:50," he said.
"At the latest five years. But hopefully, it can be faster if everything goes smoothly," he said.
Gojek has been downloaded more than 155 million times, with 29.2 million monthly active users in Indonesia, 800 thousand monthly active users in Singapore. Then, two million monthly active users in Thailand and 4.3 million monthly active users in Vietnam.
