JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Infobank magazine has named Citi Indonesia's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Batara Sianturi as one of the "Bankers of the Year 2019" at the Top 100 Bankers event in Jakarta.
The Bankers of the Year 2019 event is an annual award given by Infobank to selected professional bankers in top-level management based on nominations and ratings from the Infobank magazine's board of directors, with remarkable achievements in terms of growth in the Indonesian banking industry.
Batara, in an official statement in Jakarta, on Friday (11/29/2019), said "I thank Infobank magazine for the award as one of the 2019 Bankers of the Year. This award is dedicated to all Citi customers and clients who have entrusted their banking activities with us, as well as the entire team of Citi Indonesia employees who have worked hard together for mutual success. Batara was appointed as CEO of Citi Indonesia in June 2015. He currently also serves as Chair of the Association of International Banks of Indonesia (PERBINA), Vice Chairperson of the US-ASEAN Business Council, Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Indonesia, member of the International Advisory Board IPMI International Business School, and member of the Indonesian Junior Achievement Board.
Starting his career at Citi as a Management Associate, Batara has been a banker at Citi for 31 years, where twelve years of his career were assigned overseas.
He has served as a leader in sales, marketing, finance, and management in Indonesia and the region, as well as working in Citi Indonesia, Citi Australia, Citi Hungary, and Citi Philippines.
Previously, Batara served as Chief Executive Officer of Citi Philippines and Regional Head for the Philippines and Guam (2013-2015).
He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Business for Social Progress for the betterment of society, and is a member of the Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AmCham) in the Philippines.
Prior to working for Citi Philippines, Batara served as Regional Head for Hungary and 12 other countries in Eastern Europe (2008-2013), and at the same time also served as CEO of Citi Hungary (2007-2013).
In terms of company performance, Batara and his senior management team managed to lead Citibank NA, Indonesia to record a solid result of closing the third quarter of 2019, with a year-to-date Net Profit of IDR2.4 trillion, an increase of 70 percent over the same period last year .
