Surya Semesta Internusa Conducts Groundbreaking of Subang Smartpolitan (special)

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk (IDX:SSIA), through its subsidiary PT Suryacipta Swadaya (Suryacipta), has conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for Suryacipta's independent city project named Subang Smartpolitan, on Wednesday (11/18/2020) at the Gran Melia hotel, Jakarta. The hotel is also one of SSIA's subsidiaries in the hospitality sector.

The investment set aside for the Subang Smartpolitan reaches IDR1.5 trillion this year, and IDR700 billion in 2021. The lands prepared for the project has reached 1,200 hectares of the 2,700 hectares available.

Adjusting to the current pandemic conditions, the Subang Smartpolitan Groundbreaking Ceremony was held in a hybrid or a combination of direct and virtual mode, where guests were able to take part in the events offline and online (live streaming) through YouTube Live, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.

The events via live streaming were presented in English, Mandarin, and Japanese languanges. This is an effort to accommodate the needs of guests who are potential investors or potential clients or tenants in Subang Smartpolitan who come from various countries. It is recorded that there were thousands of attendees of this event online from various countries.

By combining modern technology and creativity, the groundbreaking ceremony was designed to be more than an inauguration of groundbreaking, but also a visual display of the future city of Subang Smartpolitan.

Carrying the theme of 'Made from Future', there was a video projection mapping showcase of the Phase-1 development plan or the South Plan area which consists of the South Smart Core, industrial plot, residential, utility area, as well as commercial area.

In his opening remarks, Johannes Suriadjaja, President Director of PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk, said that Subang Smartpolitan is a city from the future (a city 'made from future') on an area of ​​2,700 hectares, a dynamic metropolitan city with a smart and sustainable concept. He also talked about the initial idea of ​​wanting to make Indonesia, especially Subang, a city from the future.

"Departing from the Surya Semesta Internusa's corporate vision of 'Building a Better Indonesia,' which has been around for almost 50 years, through our subsidiary Suryacipta Swadaya, we are building a quality independent city that is in line with the company's vision, where Subang Smartpolitan will not only contribute to the city of Subang, but also for Indonesia," he said.

Johannes Suriadjaja explained that the construction of the first phase of Subang Smartpolitan covers an area of ​​400 hectares. This is a strategic project located in a future business district in West Java which is covered by Rebana Metropolitan, a combined area of ​​three regions that are predicted to become the future of West Java, namely Cirebon, Subang and Majalengka.

"The growth of key strategic infrastructure such as toll roads, airports and seaports will further improve the economy at Rebana Metropolitan. Therefore, the location of Subang Smartpolitan becomes more strategic as it is in the heart of the future business triangle in West Java, and becomes a new investment destination in Indonesia," he said.

Johannes Suriadjaja continued that the development of Subang Smartpolitan is a form of commitment to participate in increasing the pace of the regional economy, which is expected to take in local labor and contribute to the economy of Subang Regency. Moreover, the West Java Provincial Government has designated Subang as part of the Rebana Metropolitan special economic zone development plan.

"With all the (master) plans that have been prepared, Subang will become a pioneer of a smart & integrated city that carries infrastructure and technology that is efficient and environmentally friendly in a very strategic location," Johannes said.

In assisting its development plans, Suryacipta collaborated with global urban and infrastructure consultant Surbana Jurong to design a master plan that promotes efficient and integrated urban technology and systems, smart city road maps, and Subang Smartpolitan architectural design to make Subang Smartpolitan the first independent pilot city in Indonesia .

Karolina Astaman, Director of Surbana Jurong Indonesia, explained that the Subang Smartpolitan master plan is designed to meet the economic, environmental, transportation, and infrastructure needs of an independent city. The aim is to provide a smart and sustainable environment for a diversified self-contained city, enabling a dynamic exchange of ideas that have the potential to spark innovation.

Surbana Jurong has the honor of partnering with Subang Smartpolitan on this journey of urban and industrial transformation, as well as developing a sustainable environment for people to work, live, learn, and play.

On the same occasion, VP Sales & Marketing of PT Suryacipta Swadaya Abednego Purnomo informed that a number of investors from various industries have expressed interest in opening businesses in Subang Smartpolitan. It is targeted that there will be companies from the automotive sector, consumer goods, pharma & medical equipment, high precision industries, IT, as well as logistics, among others.

"Currently, the names of multinational companies cannot be disclosed in detail as they are bound by a non-disclosure agreement," Abednego explained.

Subang Smartpolitan Groundbreaking Ceremony

The Subang Smartpolitan groundbreaking ceremony was inaugurated by the Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil. He was accompanied by the Regent of Subang H. Ruhimat. Also attending the event were potential clients and investors, as well as existing investors and tenants of Suryacipta.

In his speech, Ridwan Kamil clarified that he also contributed to the architectural design of the new city built by Surya Internusa. Kang Emil, as he is usually called, hopes that Subang Smartpolitan can make a positive contribution to economic activity in the region.

"Congratulations on this extraordinary groundbreaking. I contributed a little of the landmark design. Hopefully it can be built first, so that people from outside can come for recreational tours that make people curious, and eventually people will come to invest, live and have recreation there," he said.

At the end of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between PT Suryacipta Swadaya and tenant candidates in Subang Smartpolitan. The signing of the MOU with industries from the automotive and logistics showed positive interest in Subang Smartpolitan.
