TANGERANG, NETRALNEWS.COM - BSD City will be the location for the operational activities of the first overseas university in Indonesia. Monash University, a higher education institution that was founded in 1958 in Melbourne, Australia, will open a learning center in the GOP 9 building in the BSD Green Office Park area, BSD City, Tangerang.
The development of the university, which is ranked 55th in the world according to the QS World University Ranking, is Monash's move to expand to a global level, after opening campuses in Malaysia, China, and India.
In addition, Monash Indonesia will support the development of local universities through several partnership programs. The presence of Monash will also spur national universities to excel at the global level.
Sinar Mas Land Group CEO Michael Widjaja said the company was very honored because BSD City was set as the location for Monash University.
"BSD City has been known for its good educational ecosystem with the presence of various leading educational institutions and universities in Indonesia. Now we welcome Monash University, which will complement the education ecosystem in BSD City as the first overseas university to operate in Indonesia. This is a very important historical event inscribed by the government in improving the quality of education in Indonesia. We also support Monash University in its efforts to further expand its network on a global scale so that Indonesian students can receive world-class education," Michael said on Tuesday (12/01/2020).
"We chose BSD City as its location reflects Monash's goal, which is to be connected to the industry, be close to a number of innovative companies and other Indonesian universities, have a sustainable environment, and provide a good life between work, recreation and lifestyle," said Professor Andrew MacIntrye, Monash University Senior Vice Chancellor for Southeast Asia Partnerships.
The presence of Monash University complements the educational ecosystem in BSD City, which has hosted a number of well-known educational institutions. These include Atma Jaya University, Prasetiya Mulya University, and IULI, as well as global institutions such as the Apple Developer Academy from Apple Inc., and Amazon's AWS Academy.
Students and university students can add knowledge and expertise through non-formal education centers such as Purwadhika Digital Technology School, Techpolitan, Binar Academy, Creative Nest, and NXL Esports Center.
Later on, Monash University graduates are expected to be able to fill the needs of human resources (HR) in companies with offices in the BSD City Central Business District (CBD), such as Unilever, NTT, Orami, MyRepublic, and various others.
Access to and from BSD City is also easy, namely via the Jakarta-Serpong and Jakarta-Merak toll roads which are connected to the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) toll road, Jagorawi toll road, and Airport toll road. BSD City is also integrated with various modes of public transportation, such as the Royal Trans Jabodetabek, and the Commuter Line electric train through the BSD City Intermoda transit-oriented development (TOD) area.
