BMKG: Several Regions Will Experience Heavy Rainfall in Early May (bmkg)

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COMHead of Data Information and Public Relations Center for the Indonesia National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho has reported the rainfall forecast maps in May 2019. It is estimated that rainfall still occurs in several regions in Indonesia with low, medium to high intensity.

Low intensity rainfall is estimated to occur in Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, parts of South Sulawesi and parts of Papua. Whereas medium to high intensity rainfall occurs in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua.

"The regions of Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara and parts of South Sulawesi have the potential to be safe from flooding," Sutopo said, Tuesday (4/30/2019).

This statement was conveyed by Sutopo because the threat of disaster continued to increase. The increase in disasters in 2019 was caused by the triggering of floods and landslides, namely heavy rainfall.

The combination of nature and anthropogenic is the main cause of the increasing disaster. Anthropogenic factors are human hands that damage nature and the environment.

During 2019, namely (1/1/2019) until (30/4/2019) there were 1,586 disasters in Indonesia. The impact of the disaster caused 325 people died, 113 people were missing, 1,439 people were injured and 996,143 people were displaced and suffered.

Physical damage included 3,588 heavily damaged houses, 3,289 moderately damaged houses, 15,376 houses slightly damaged, 325 damaged educational buildings, 235 damaged religious facilities and 78 damaged health facilities.

"More than 98 percent of the disasters that occur are hydrometeorological disasters while 2 percent are geological disasters," said Sutopo.
