House to Establish Special Committee on Capital City Transfer

Chairman of Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR) Zainuddin Amali (dpr)

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Chairman of Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR) Zainuddin Amali said the House of Representatives would form a Special Committee (Pansus) regarding the transfer of the nation's capital, later to discuss the law on the capital city.

"Yes, certainly (setting up the special committee)," Amali said at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta.

He said, Commission II of the House of Representatives would thoroughly review the Law on the Capital City because there was already Law number 29 of 2007 concerning Provincial Government of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta.

However, according to Amali, the affairs of the transfer study began from the place until the budget was handed over to the government.

"We leave it to the government because it is technical, they are technically the ones who will decide. We are up to how the government studies are submitted to the DPR, this is only discourse, there are around Jakarta, Java, outside Java," he said.

He said that if the government had made plans related to the transfer of the capital city, there would have been calculations, and it would not be in a fiscal year but divided into "multi-years".

Amali considered the government had conducted a study and if the government had calculated it, he was sure that the transfer of the capital could be done.

Previously, President Joko Widodo said there were three regional candidates who would be the location for the transfer of the capital, namely Sumatra Island, Sulawesi Island and Kalimantan Island, as quoted from Antara.
