Police Start Dispersing Peaceful Protest in Front of Bawaslu Office (special)

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) have begun to disperse the crowd of peaceful protesters that had held speeches from 2:00 p.m. until now at 8:15 p.m Indonesian western time.

Previously, the mass of peaceful protesters had broken their fast, conducted Tarawih prayers, and prayed together on the M.H Thamrin street, precisely in front of Sarinah. The peaceful protest agreement was implemented only until the time of breaking the fast, but until 8:17 p.m, the masses were still gathered and did not appear to have left the area.

Furthermore, the security forces that were only hundreds in the afternoon, have now reached the thousands, and are preparing anticipation measures. They appear to be wearing riot gear.

A mass dispersing mobile unit, a unit of a baracuda car, and a unit of water canon were also seen in the area, approaching the masses to drive away the masses who continued to force the action.

After a lengthy negotiation between the Central Jakarta Police Chief and the mass of action, until 8:35 p.m the masses had not left the area, as reported by Antara.
