Free Homecoming Travel Program Reduces Traffic Accidents

East Java governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa (special)

SITUBONDO, NETRALNEWS.COM - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa says that the free homecoming travel program conducted by a number of government agencies had the effect of decreasing the number of traffic accidents from travelers.

"With the increasing number of free homecoming facilities, there will be fewer travelers using motorbikes, and with the reduction in motorbike travelers, it can automatically reduce the number of traffic accidents," he said when reviewing Lebaran 2019 transportation services at Jangkar Ferry Port, Situbondo Regency, East Java, Monday (03/6/2019).

Governor Khofifah has direct dialogue with the majority of travelers who are overseas on the island of Bali who are waiting for the departure of the ferry to the Anchor route to Kalianget Harbor. From the dialogue it was known that some passengers were waiting for the departure schedule of the Jangkar ferry boat to Raas Island on Tuesday (4/6).

"Previously, I went to Kalianget Port, Sumenep Regency, Madura. I have twice monitored the flow of homecoming travel. And today to the Port of Anchor, it turns out that ship passengers have begun to shrink as they approach Idul Fitri," said the Governor.

He said that a review of Lebaran homecoming was carried out to ensure that the Lebaran homecoming process this time with all team cohesiveness could be built better and more comfortably in serving travelers.

Governor Khofifah also appealed to travelers to take advantage of the free homecoming program every year, especially two-wheeled vehicles.

Governor Khofifah reminded all bus drivers, both regular and free going home before the Idul Fitri homecoming flow, must be confirmed to undergo a urine test and the results must be negative from drug use.

"So we really want to maximize keeping with all lines, and even before the Minister of Transportation and the Minister of Health had a coordination meeting at Grahadi and with the police in East Java, which means we want to synergize all elements that can maximize the best service to people who are going home," said the former Social Minister was quoted from Antara.
