JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM  --- Investigators of the Narcotics Crime Directorateat the Indonesia National Police (Polri) have announced the arrest of six Malaysian citizens. It has also seized 37 kilograms of packages of shabu-shabu or meth that were intended to be smuggled into Indonesia by cruise ship by sea.

The four were arrested on the Karenliner Ship, a luxury Malaysian-flagged cruise when docked at Batavia Marina Pier, Sunda Kelapa Port complex, Ancol, North Jakarta.

The suspects have the initials MIF, SHN, SLH and RHM, which have different roles in this smuggling.

"There are those who are boat captains, some are as controllers, and they moved the drugs," said Deputy Director of Narcotics Crime at Polri Police Commissioner Krisno Halomoan Siregar in Jakarta, as quoted from Antara.

Krisno said that the disclosure of the drug smuggling was different from previous cases of drug smuggling that used fishing boats as a mode of smuggling transportation. This time the package of meth was brought by smugglers using the luxury cruise ship that was assembled in 2013 in France, which costed IDR 7 billion.

"Usually criminals smuggled drugs using the fishing boats, and not a cruise ship," he said.

From the results of the inspection, the Karenliner ship was intentionally rented to transport meth from the Port of Senibong Cove Marina, Johor, Malaysia.

"The meth was brought from Senibong Cove Marina Malaysia Port to Jakarta on the orders of someone with the initials HA. HA is still at large," he said.

To trick the officers, the 37 kg of meth were packaged in 37 packs of Chinese tea with each weighing 1 kg and stored in two black suitcases. The suitcases were hidden in the ship.

In addition to the four people arrested on board, investigators also arrested IKZ at Marina Pier. IKZ's role is to pick up the shabu-shabu package from the ship after the ship arrives in Jakarta.

On the same day, investigators also arrested the network controller, MHS at Aston Pluit Hotel, Jakarta.

Krisno said that the Indonesian National Police and all related parties would always supervise small ports scattered throughout the Indonesian coastline, especially those prone to smuggling drugs, such as in the Sumatra and Kalimantan regions, according to Antara.
