KPK Names Riau Islands Governor Nurdin Basirun as Suspect

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesia Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Governor of Riau Islands Nurdin Basirun (NBA) along with three other people as suspects for bribery in principle permits and sea use locations, reclamation projects in the coastal areas and small islands of Riau Islands.

In addition, the KPK also named Nurdin as a suspect in the recipient of gratuities related to his position.

"After conducting inspections and other activities followed by a case title, a maximum of 24 hours as stipulated in the Criminal Procedure Code, the KPK increased the status of case handling to investigation and determined three people as suspects," KPK Deputy Chairman Basaria Panjaitan said at a press conference in the KPK building, Jakarta. Thursday (07/11/2019).

The suspects named by KPK are Nurdin Basirun (NBA), Head of the Riau Islands Provincial Maritime and Fisheries Service Edy Sofyan (EDS), and Head of Fisheries Capture Division of the Provincial Maritime and Fisheries Service at Riau Islands Budi Hartono (BUH).

In addition, KPK also named Abu Bakar (ABK) from the private sector as suspect.

As a party suspected of being a bribe and gratuity recipient, Nurdin is suspected of violating Article 12 letter a or letter b or Article 11 and Article 12 B of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Corruption in juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st Criminal Code.

Furthermore, as a party suspected of being the recipient of Edy and Budi's bribe, it is alleged that it violated Article 12 letter a or letter b or Article 11, Law Number 31 Year 1999 as amended by Act Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

Whereas as a party suspected of giving Abu Bakr it was alleged that it violated Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or letter b or Article 13 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.
