JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has reported an increase in the number of requests for protection and legal assistance to LPSK by child victims of sexual violence.
Based on LPSK data, in 2017, the number of requests for cases of sexual violence against children reached 70 requests for protection and assistance, which continued to rise in 2018, and reaching 149 requests.
For the year 2019, until last June, requests for cases of sexual violence against children received by LPSK had reached 78 requests.
"We believe that this figure is still the tip of the iceberg," Deputy Chairperson of LPSK Achmadi told a press conference at the LPSK office in Ciracas, East Jakarta, Wednesday (24/7/2019).
Based on the area of application for protection and assistance for sexual violence against children received by LPSK, the top position in 2016 was in East Java, Jakarta and West Java.
For 2017, the region with the most requests for protection and assistance for sexual violence is occupied by Bengkulu, West Java and East Java.
"While in 2018 the most applications for protection and assistance for sexual violence were in Jakarta, Banten, and West Java," explained Achmadi.
