JAYAPURA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Police General Tito Karnavian, chief of the Indonesia National Police (Polri), says Benny Wenda, The United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), and the West Papua National Committee (KNPB) were behind the anarchist protests that occurred inside and outside Papua.

"What happened in Papua was designed by the group for the specific purpose of creating chaos. The Cyber Directorate has been monitoring groups that produce news about Papua," Tito said in Jayapura, Thursday (05/09/2019).

He explained that the Papuan Student Alliance (AMP) was also driven by ULMWP and KNPB. That's why people are asked not to be affected by the issues that are packaged to make Papua chaotic.

"ULMWP and KNPB are responsible for the various protests that have taken place. We have secured a list of names, and we will carry out law enforcement," he said, and added that if the law is not enforced, then they will continue to play at the expense of the public.

The National Police Chief explained that the various protests in Papua were carried out in the context of a meeting at the Human Rights Commission in Geneva on 9 September, so that later there would be reports of rioting in Papua.

In addition, on September 23-24 there will be a UN General Assembly with all countries expressing their views, but there is no agenda on Papua.

Even so, groups that seek to go through certain countries will deliberately throw issues about the riots in Papua, said General Tito Karnavian again.

Tito said, at this time the conditions in Jayapura were conducive and that public activities were back to normal.

"The public should not easily believe in issues deliberately issued by certain groups," Tito said, as reported by Antara.
