JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesia Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi says he will follow up in accordance with regulations on the case of a Garuda Indonesia Airbus A330-900 aircraft that had been found to have carried parts of a limited edition Harley Davidson motorcycle, as well as several Brompton bicycles.
"Since it is an inaugural flight [for the aircraft], it will certainly relate it to regulations. I have not yet clarified on the matter. I will wait for the Director General to clarify what happened," he said after opening the Ministry of Transportation Work Meeting in Jakarta, Tuesday (12/03/2019).
Budi Karya Sumadi claims he have not yet obtained an official report on the finding. "I have not received an official report. I will clarify later, "he said.
The Garuda Indonesia Airbus A330-900 departed from Toulouse, France, on Saturday, 16 November, 2019, and arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Sunday, 17 November, afternoon.
The airport's customs team also welcomed the plane when it landed at GMF's hangar number four.
Customs officers obtained information about the aircraft's cargo, which contains a Harley Davidson motorcycle parts and several other luxury items that were not stated in the aircraft's manifest.
The officers then confiscated the items that were not stated in the manifest in front of the import warehouse. Customs officers also had time to break into a GMF truck.
Moreover, the customs officers then assemble the Harley Davidson parts into a whole motorcycle. They discovered that the Harley Davidson motorcycle is a limited edition motorcycle that was built in the 1970s.
In addition to the Harley Davidson motorcycle, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport's customs also found three other boxes containing two Brompton bicycles, which were brought by a passenger with the initials LS.
With the addition of these three boxes, the total number of boxes found by Customs reached 18 boxes.
