KPK Searches Office of KPU

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesia Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has just searched the office of the General Election Commission (KPU) in Jakarta on Monday (1/13/2020). The search was conducted in relation to the investigation of bribery case related to the intermittent replacement process (PAW) of an elected House of Representatives member from the PDI-P faction for the 2019-2024 period.

"Yes, that is correct," said acting KPK spokesman Ali Fikri, in Jakarta, on Monday (01/13/2020).

However, Ali could not further explain which room in the KPU office was searched by the KPK team. He only said that the progress of the search results would be disclosed later.

Previously, a number of KPK officers were observed visiting the office of the KPU leadership on Monday afternoon.

KPK officers arrived in four cars around 12.00 Indonesian Western Time and immediately entered the KPU leaders' temporary office at the Mes BI Imam Bonjol Building, right next to the KPU Office.

The KPK officers were escorted by around four fully armed police personnel, KPK officers entered the room where the KPU leadership worked, but it was not known which rooms were likely to be searched.

On Thursday (01/09/2020), KPK announced four suspects related to bribery corruption in the determination of elected members of the Indonesian Parliament 2019-2024. The recipients of the bribe was named as KPU Commissioner WSE, and former trustee of WSE, ATF.

KPK named as givers of the bribe PDI-P member HAR, and SAE from the private sector.

WSE requested an operational fund of IDR900 million to help HAR become a member of the Indonesia House of Representatives from the South Sumatra electoral district I, replacing the elected House candidate from the PDIP faction in the South Sumatra electoral district I Nazarudin Kiemas who had passed away. Of this amount, Wahyu only received IDR600 million.
