SURABAYA, NETRALNEWS.COM - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa says the number of patiennts tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus in the province has risen to 51. The figure is higher than reported 41 positive cases the previous day.
"The number of positive COVID-19 patients has reached 51 people, according to data from the tracing team as of today at 16:00 local time," Khofifah said on the sidelines of a press conference at the Grahadi State Building in Surabaya, on Tuesday (03/24/2020).
She said the 10 new positive coronavirus patients comprise of five people in Magetan Regency, two in Surabaya City, two in Sidoarjo Regency, and one patient in Malang City.
Thus, The number of positive COVID-19 cases in Surabaya reaches 31 cases, six cases in Malang, eight cases in Magetan, five cases in Sidoarjo, and one case in Blitar District.
The addition of cases also occurred for patients under surveillance (PDP) from 125 people to 142 people. In addition, the cases in monitoring (ODP) has almost doubled from 1,405 people to 2,003 people.
Khofifah added that two patients, one from Malang and one from Surabaya, has died.
Meanwhile, the East Java Coronavirus Task Force Curative Cluster Coordinator and President Director of dr. Soetomo Hospital Dr. Joni Wahyuhadi said that the addition of 10 positive patients was not a new finding, but from the original patient under surveillance status.
"Meanwhile, the two patients who died were solely due to COVID-19, but there were other congenital diseases that accompanied the two patients. Those who died were also aged over 50 years," he said.
