JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The handling of the Covid-19 coronavirus is becoming more challenging as medical personnel-who are at the forefront of fighting the virus-are decreasing in numbers due to getting exposed to the virus.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that in his region, the number of medical workers who had been infected by the coronavirus had now reached 50 workers, in which two had died. Anies said the medical personnel are stationed in 24 hospitals throughout Jakarta.
In response to this, Alissa Wahid, daughter of former Indonesia President Abdurrahman Wahid, called on the government to take serious steps to deal with medical personnel exposed to the coronavirus. Alissa suggested to send the medical personnel infected with the coronavirus to ah special hospital.
"I propose that all exposed medical personnel be treated in a special hospital for optimum recovery. They are our priority since they are fighting specifically for us. Therefore, it is not wrong for us to fight specifically for them," Alissa said in her Twitter account, on Thursday (03/26/2020).
Meanwhile, Anies has stated that protection for medical personnel is the main instrument in handling the coronavirus outbreak. He also said that rapid testing kits will be prioritized for medical personnel.
Anies added that the Jakarta administration has provided a temporary residence for medical personnel. As quoted from the official Facebook account page of Anies, the medical personnel were given a special place, namely in a hotel owned by the Provincial Government of Jakarta.
"Today, 138 medical personnel from Tarakan Regional Hospital and Pasar Minggu Regional Hospital have began to occupy the Grand Cempaka Business hotel," Anies said on his Facebook account on Thursday (3/26).
