Special Staff of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Arya Mahendra Sinulinggam (indopolitika)

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Task Force for the Acceleration of the Handling of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) is set to distribute Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Lab Test devices to detect someone is positive or negative for Covid-19 to a number of provinces in Indonesia. At present, a PCR device has been installed in a hospital in the Jakarta Province.

In addition to Jakarta, the eleven provinces receiving this equipment are West Java, Banten, Central Java, East Java, Bali, Lampung, South Sumatra, North Sumatra, East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, and Papua.

The assembly of this device takes several days and requires high caution. Special Staff of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Arya Mahendra Sinulinggam said that PCR devices must be installed in a negative pressure room.

"If the hospital already has a negative pressure room, then the device can already be used. And many other items are adjusted to the criteria of a lab, especially virus labs like this that must comply with Ministry of Health standards," Arya said during a press conference at Graha BNPB, Jakarta, on Wednesday (04/08/2020).

He said that two automatic RNA Extractor and 18 PCR detectors could conduct Covid-19 tests on 9,000-10,000 people per day.

Arya said that in one month, hospitals can conduct 300,000 tests if in one day 5,000 to 10,000 tests can be carried out.

This device was imported from Roche Switzerland. The PCR lab test devices are sought after by various countries which are also facing the Covid-19 pandemic.

Through the procurement of logistics equipment, Arya hopes that health facilities will more quickly and easily record how many people are positively infected with COVID-19. That way, efforts to treat and break the chain of transmission will be easier.
