PEKANBARU, NETRALNEWS.COM - The narcotics division of Kampar Police, Riau Islands, has shot dead a man allegedly dealing methamphetamine—locally known a sabu, after the man attacked police officers with an air soft gun.
"The suspect, with the initials JA, tried to resist arrest by attacking police officers with an air soft gun revolver before trying to escape. He was shot by police officers,” the local police spokesperson said.
The alleged gunman was suspected of being a former member of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI).
Before the shooting of JA, Kampar Police earlier captured JH, who was dismissed as brigadier police due to disciplinary issues.
Initially, police arrested two residents transacting sabu at a refueling station in Air Tiris, Kampar regency.
Police confiscated sabu weighing 5.4 grams from the two suspects, HD and HW.
Both claimed to have gotten sabu from JH. Police then arrested JH, and uncovered a lead to the former military personnel.
From JA, police seized 550 grams of sabu in Rimbo Panjang. Kampar police are still searching for another fugitive.
