MUI Asks Gov't to Take Firm Stance on Entry of Foreign Workers (nawacita)

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Anwar Abbas, Secretary General of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), has called on the Indonesian government to take a firm stance by banning the entry of Foreign Workers (TKA), especially those from China.

He said the firm stance must be taken due to Indonesia's efforts and struggles to break the chain of transmission of the Covid-19 coronavirus. This virus, according to Anwar Abbas, has very much caused harm to this nation.

"The presence of those (foreign workers) who are still free to enter and leave this country certainly has really hurt our hearts as a nation," he said.

Anwar Abbas said that if this situation continues to happen, then it will certainly weaken the people's trust in the government. The situation is clearly not good for the life of this nation and country going forward.

He further invited the public to face the Covid-19 outbreak in earnest and jointly by complying with government regulations and existing medical protocols.

"Because of that, we hope that, God Willing, our country will be able to get out of these disasters so that people's lives can recover to normal," he hoped.

Anwar also urged people to strengthen the unity and harmony as a nation by fostering a fertile attitude of help that has been Indonesia's identity as a nation. This can be done by helping those who are experiencing difficulties and problems in meeting their basic needs.
