JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesia Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P Batubara has handed over 5,000 packages of food assistance from the Presidential Social Assistance program to Betawi Deliberation Board (Badan Musyawarah Betawi/Bamus). The food packages are set to be delivered to communities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Minister said that his office held the principle of "giving more to help is better than giving less."
"It is an obligation as the Ministry of Social Affairs to mobilize assistance for people, especially Betawi people. In principle, it's nothing more than less" he said at the Taman Benyamin Suaeb Building, Jakarta, Friday (3/6/2020).
Also present at the event were Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Hartono Laras, Director General of Social Ministry Social Rehabilitation Harry Hikmat, and Director General of Social Protection and Social Security Pepen Nazaruddin.
Also present was the Chairman of the Covid-19 Task Force Bamus Betawi Muhammad Rifky, the General Chairman of Bamus Betawi Abraham Lunggana or Haji Lulung, and the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Riza Patria.
The Minister said that the Ministry of Social Affairs had an interest in the distribution of Social Assistance Services, but also the role of the regional governments, as well as the role of community organizations.
"Do not hesitate if you really need help from us (the Ministry of Social Affairs), just talk. Of course, by following all the rules and make sure those who receive really need help," said the Minister.
On the same occasion, Chairman of the Covid-19 Task Force Bamus Betawi Muhammad Rifky admitted, the extraordinary news when the Minister of Social Affairs would provide food assistance. He admitted that he immediately arranged the distribution process and the head of the mass organization also listed prospective recipients.
"Today after the ceremony, symbolically the handover of aid, the leaders of mass organizations incorporated in the Betawi Betus will be trusted. We will share it together," explained Bang Eky, his greeting.
Haji Lulung also said that the provision of basic food assistance by the Social Minister was good news and God's call. He was sure, synergy was established thanks to all the hard work from various parties that were brought together today.
Haji Lulung added that in Bamus Betawi there were 89 supporting mass organizations. Attending the event were 50 mass organizations, with regard to health protocols.
"God willing, a good day, given a blessing to be given health and safety. We pray also Social Minister Juliari be given good health," he prayed.
