CIREBON, NETRALNEWS.COM - Grace Batubara, counselor of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) at the Indonesia Ministry of Social Affairs, has distributed relief packages from the Ministry of Social Affairs in Cirebon City. She reminded residents to remain disciplined to comply with health protocols in the new normal era at this time.
"For ladies and gentlemen here, even though we have entered the new normal period, but actually it is not yet normal. So we still have to be disciplined to obey the health protocol according to the government's recommendations," Grace said in Cirebon City Hall, on Friday (07/10/2020).
The three most important things, she continued, are wearing masks, diligently washing hands, and avoiding crowds by keeping a physical distance.
"Hopefully the City of Cirebon can return to the Green Zone and everything can recover as it was before. Starting with self-discipline, we are confident we can break the chain of the spread of Covid-19," she said.
Grace, who is also representing the Kabinet Indonesia Maju OASE, said that even though entering a new normal period, there were still many residents who experienced economic hardship due to the Covid-19 pandemic, such as losing their jobs and income.
"The Ministry of Social Affairs is here to help alleviate the burden of citizens affected by Covid-19. We are today providing assistance in the package of Ministry of Social Affairs Here for Cirebon City. Hopefully, it will be well received and can soon be distributed to residents in need," Grace said.
The basic food packages distributed today totals 2,500 packages, comprising of 1,000 packages distributed through the Social Service for Women Empowerment and Child Protection (P3A) of Cirebon City; 500 packages for Fishermen's Village in Kesenden Village, Kejaksan District, Cirebon City; and 1,000 packages for 5 sub-districts in Cirebon City, namely Harjamukti, Kesambi, Pekalipan, Lemahwungku, and Kejaksan Sub-Districts.
"This is accordance with the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, that we distribute the Ministry of Social Affairs social assistance/aid (Bansos) so that all levels of society that have not been touched by aid can be helped," she explained.
The Ministry of Social Affairs, through the Directorate of Social Empowerment, provided the social aid to the affected communities of COVID-19 who are not yet included in the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) and have never received assistance from the Keluarga Harapan Program (PKH) or Non-Cash Social Assistance (BPNT)/Basic Food Program.
Meanwhile, Cirebon Mayor Nasrudin Azis said that during the new Customs Adaptation (AKB) program, food aid was urgently needed by its citizens.
"Thank you to the Ministry of Social Affairs for their help. The people of Cirebon are grateful for the support of the central government by protecting ourselves from being infected and transmitting the virus by complying with health protocols," Nasrudin said.
One of Cirebon City's resident named Junaedi (69) who works daily as a fisherman and freelance worker admitted that he was helped by the social aid from the Ministry of Social Affairs.
"Thanks to the Ministry of Social Affairs for giving me help. Since the pandemic, my income has decreased, but I am still healthy," he said.
