JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesia Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P Batubara has ensured that he would not tolerate and would take firm action against any misusage in the distribution of social assistance/aid (bansos). To ensure this, the Ministry of Social Affairs will continue to strengthen cooperation with the police.
"The food aid were distributed as part of the country's task to the Ministry of Social Affairs to overcome the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. As disaster relief, we do not tolerate any misusage," said Social Affairs Minister Juliari in Jakarta, Friday (07/30/2020).
In addition, the provision of social aid, including basic food aid, is carried out using the state budget. "So it is obligatory for every state budget expenditure, carried out by taking into account the principles of accountability," he said.
Related to the legal process against a social aid broker currently in custody by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, the Minister of Social Affairs gave appreciation to the National Police. He ensured that the Ministry of Social Affairs would continue to work closely with the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in controlling and handling the misuse of basic food aid.
On a different occasion, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Hartono Laras stated, the process of this case into the realm of law has an important meaning, that the Ministry of Social Affairs continues to try not to provide a loophole for fraud and take firm action whenever there is fraud.
On the other hand, T's statement (which has been determined as a suspect) stating that they have cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs, also harms the Ministry of Social Affairs.
"In this case the Ministry of Social's image was also harmed because it claimed to have a relationship with the Ministry of Social Affairs even though there was none. There needs to be firm action to create a deterrent effect, "he said.
Firm action is also in line with the increasing value / amount of the Ministry of Social budget for handling the impact of Covid-19. "Of course in its use it must be accountable and transparent, and there is no room for deviation.
Meanwhile the Inspector General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Dadang Iskandar said that in managing the budget the Ministry of Social Affairs was also accompanied and supervised in layers. Namely by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Supreme Audit Board (BPK), the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), also the Government Goods / Services Procurement Policy Agency (LKPP), and so on.
But extra supervision is also needed, including from the public through the media. The media can also supervise the Ministry of Social Affairs, because the assistance involves a very large budget, and the recipients of the assistance also reach tens of millions.
"With this willingness to be monitored, we want to have public involvement and continue to implement good governance," he said.
This case is a concern that the Ministry of Social Affairs does not provide space for the emergence of similar cases, considering the distribution of social assistance is underway and there is even an extension.
"In addition, we also need to convey, that given the source of social assistance the source is quite a lot for the impact of co-19, distributed both at the central, provincial, district / city and so on," he said.
