BANDUNG, NETRALNEWS.COM - Data from the Indonesia Ministry of Social Affairs shows that the realization of the distribution of Cash Social Assistance (BST) Phase I has almost met the target.
Realization of BST in Region I has reached 97.98% with a total of 3,441,321 Beneficiary Families (KPM). For Region, the realization touched 98.62% with a total of 2,986,655 KPM. Region III reached 97.01% with a total of 2,385,819 KPM.
Director General for Poverty Handling Asep Sasa Purnama expressed his appreciation to the local governments that had worked hard to deliver the social cash aid to its completion.
"The success of this realization is inseparable from regional support so that the distribution of BST can increase the purchasing power of the communities and help the basic needs of poor and vulnerable families," said Asep.
This statement was delivered by Asep when accompanying Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P Batubara who witnessed the distribution of BST Phase II at the PT Pos Indonesia Office in Cikutra Branch, Jl PHH Mustopa, Cikutra, Cibeunying Kidul, Bandung, on Wednesday (08/05/2020).
In handling the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Social Affairs has done eight things: firstly, the expansion of the nine-basic necessities program to 20 million beneficiaries and increasing the index to IDR200,000/month/KPM.
Second, the increase and acceleration of PKH social assistance distribution from 9.2 million KPMs to 10 million KPMs, and distribution from 3 months to per monthly basis. Third, the President's special assignment for (1) Social Aid in Greater Jakarta as anticipation of hpomecoming travels, (2) BST for all of Indonesia except Greater Jakarta.
Fourth, the provision of special assistance for Jakarta in the form of food packages, death benefits for the heirs of Covid-19 victims who died, the provision of food packages for 460 LKS in Greater Jakarta, and assistance in strengthening the sustainability business grant for 10,000 KPMs. Fifth, CBP preparation during the emergency period is in accordance with the Minister of Social Affairs circular to the Governors/Mayors/Regents in accordance with the applicable mechanism.
Sixth, the deployment of social pillars (social extension workers, Tagana, TKSK, Karang Taruna, PSM, Social Workers Community, PKH Assistant and Bandung Poltekesos students) in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The seventh, support for disaster emergency assistance and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Eighth, preparation of the Social Rehabilitation Center/Training Center for quarantine.
