JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesia Ministry of Social Affairs is inviting businesses to optimize the implementation of social welfare, especially in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Handling Covid-19 needs to be carried out in a cooperative manner by involving all related stakeholders, including from the business community through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

"Social Minister Juliari P Batubara welcomes the role of the business world through CSR to create social welfare," said Director General of Social Empowerment Edi Suharto after reading out remarks from the Minister of Social Affairs at the 2020 National Social Welfare National Meeting of Social Welfare Forum in Jakarta, Tuesday (08/11/2020).

This year's national work meeting has the theme of "Realizing the implementation of sustainable social welfare in a period of adaptation to new habits for Advanced Indonesia".

The National Work Meeting was attended by the Director General of Social Empowerment; Director of Social Empowerment for Individuals, Families and Community Institutions; Provincial and Regency Office of Social Affairs; Chairman of the National Social Welfare CSR Forum; Chairman of the Provincial Social Welfare CSR Forum; as well as the presenters.

Furthermore, Edi said, through the CSR Forum, it will become a strategic and harmonious partnership between the Ministry of Social Affairs, the CSR Forum, and the business world. According to him, the most important thing is that the typical branding of the CSR social welfare forum will focus on activities that are focused on addressing the needs and human rights of PPKS residents.

This means meeting the various needs and human rights of citizens of the Social Welfare Service Government (PPKS), within the scope of neglected children, the elderly (elderly), and people with disabilities.

"This will be the core business of the CSR Forum, and in the regions it has been running, such as the distribution of basic necessities for residents affected by the pandemic and efforts to prevent Covid-19," said Edi.

In the future, it is necessary to increase efforts to strengthen the economy with cooperation between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the CSR Forum, especially when entering the adaptation period for new habits or new normal.

"Entering the new habitual adaptation period, purchasing power has decreased and poverty has increased. Of course, the focus of the CSR Forum in addition to continuing social assistance also directs efforts to increase social empowerment for PPKS residents," concluded Edi.

Through this National Working Meeting, it is expected to be able to formulate the best strategy for sustainable Social Welfare CSR during a new normal habit period, as well as a comprehensive indicator of the results of social welfare practice.
