DENPASAR, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesia Ministry of Social Affairs, through the Directorate General of Social Empowerment, continues to distribute social assistance in the form of basic food packages for residents affected by Covid-19 in Tabanan and Denpasar, Bali.

"We are here to help people affected by Covid-19 who need social assistance, but have not received assistance from the central government," said the Ministry of Social Affairs' Dharma Wanita Advisor Grace Batubara in Denpasar, Bali, on Monday (09/07/2020).

Grace Batubara distributed social assistance in the form of 1,000 basic food packages through the Mercy Indonesia Foundation. The basic food packages aid are for employees who were laid off in Denpasar and surrounding areas.

She said the distribution of basic food packages is expected to help as well as ease the burden on residents from the impact of Covid-19.

"I heard the story of a mother who fried crackers for a restaurant, but Covid-19 has disrupted her livelihood. Therefore, the Covid-19 impact is more devastating than volcanic eruptions and acts of terrorism," said Grace.

Furthermore, Grace emphasized that Bali really depends on the tourism sector. However, with the occurrence of Covid-19, Bali's economic sector was very much affected.

"I invite all elements of society to have a spirit of mutual cooperation from everyone, because that is our working capital in facing the Covid-19 pandemic," she said.

The Indonesian government is not tired of reminding residents to reduce Covid-19 transmission by implementing the 3 M discipline, namely wearing a mask, washing hands with soap and running water, and maintaining distance.

"These are the efforts to reduce the transmission of Covid-19. Thus, we are expected to be disciplined in implementing 3M, stay enthusiastic, maintain health, pray to God Almighty that Covid-19 will end soon, and life and the economy will return to normal," Grace hoped.
