CIREBON, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesia Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P Batubara says the beneficiary families (KPM) of the Keluarga Harapan Program (PKH) that have become independent of the program are like those who have graduated from classes. He advised KPM PKH to graduate and not regress down to the same class again.
"Like schoolchildren, mothers have graduated or have graduated. If you have graduated, don't return to being KPM. If you have graduated, you should go to a higher school," said Social Affairs Minister Juliari.
This statement was conveyed by the Minister of Social Affairs in his remarks at the KPM Graduation and National Reconciliation activities for the 2020 Family Hope Program Social Assistance, in Cirebon, Thursday (17/9/2020).
On this occasion he emphasized that the task of the state in reducing poverty is not only the job of the President, Minister of Social Affairs or regents and mayors. But what is more important is motivation from within KPM itself.
"We must be motivated to live in a better future. It is good for mothers and for Indonesia in the future. If poverty can be reduced soon, then the President hopes that Indonesia will become a middle-income country by 2045, exactly 100 years of independence for Indonesia can be achieved as well," he said.
Therefore, the Minister of Social Affairs emphasizes the importance of a companion role which is expected to provide skills and knowledge to KPM. "Including how to manage aid funds so as to increase KPM productivity," continued the Minister of Social Affairs.
Juliari said the graduation and reconciliation were the government's efforts to eradicate poverty. From the report the Minister of Social Affairs received until last August as many as 711,126 or 71.1 percent of the target of 1 million KPM had returned the Prosperous Family Card (KKS) because they were economically able.
"To get out of this poverty trap, we have to start from ourselves. The government is supportive. If calculated, how much PKH assistance is per year, at most IDR 5 million to IDR 6 million," added Juliari.
The number of KPM that left the membership, said Juliari, was due to the hard work of PKH social assistants. For that, he is optimistic that the graduation target of 1 million KPM this year can be exceeded.
"This is inseparable from the cooperation of all parties, especially PKH social facilitators who always provide guidance and direction to KPM. They are the spearhead of the success of this program," added the former member of the DPR for the two periods.
On the same occasion, the Director General of Social Protection and Security Pepen Nazarudin said that the KPM which graduated from the beginning of the year to August reached 711,126 families, or reached 71.1 percent of the target of 1 million KPM. Pepen also explained about the number of KPM in West Java who had graduated.
"Until August too, in West Java Province there were 125,406 KPM or 7.16 percent, of a total of 1,750,047 KPM," said Pepen in his remarks.
Furthermore, Pepen said that the Ministry of Social Affairs gave appreciation to KPM who chose to graduate. He hopes that the welfare of the KPM who has graduated will increase. His party also distributed assistance for KPM who graduated.
"Today we present 50 KPM PKH who graduated from Cirebon City, Cirebon Regency, Kuningan and Indramayu. On this occasion, KUR will be handed over for five verified KPMs. Then help with household needs to support women's businesses," said Pepen.
In addition to the graduation, Pepen said that his party reconciled the distribution of KPM assistance to meet the 5T, namely right on target, time, amount, benefits and administration. Reconciliation is carried out by the Directorate of Family Social Security, Social Service and HIMBARA as social assistance channeling agencies. Hundreds of participants participated in this reconciliation.
"The reconciliation activity was followed by 224 participants outside the network (offline). Then, 115 participants were divided into three classes. And, 109 participants online," said Pepen.
