Social Affairs Ministry and Bulog Clarify on Plastic Rice Issue for Social Aid

Inspector General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Dadang Iskandar (kemensos)

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesia Ministry of Social Affairs, in collaboration with Bulog, are distributing Rice Social Assistance (BSB) to 10 Million Beneficiary Families (KPM). BSB is given at a rate of 15kg/month/KPM.

BSB is given for three months, starting from August to October 2020. This assistance aims to reduce the burden on Keluarga Harapan Program (PKH) KPMs' expenses during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Inspector General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Dadang Iskandar said that in the distribution of rice social assistance, there were several obstacles. Among them are weather constraints and information on plastic rice in one or two districts.

"The Ministry of Social Affairs has anticipated things like this. We are also coordinating with the Attorney General's Office to address this issue," said Dadang, on Wednesday (10/14/2020).

That statement was conveyed by Dadang during the 2020 BSB Distribution Acceleration and Evaluation Meeting at the Grand Mercure Harmoni Hotel, Central Jakarta.

Dadang confirmed that the Ministry of Social Affairs always strive to overcome various conflicts and the existence of interest from certain parties by escorting.

"We check the packaging, check the quality, check the amount of rice distributed. We also check the rice distribution schedule, make sure the rice is received of medium quality," he instructed.

On the same occasion, Director of Operations and Public Services of Bulog Triyana denied the existence of plastic rice in the BSB program. He emphasized that his office has no interest in mixing rice with plastic.

"It is known that it was not the recipient who complained, not the KPM. Some admitted that the recipient was given a Bulog rice sack," he said.

He further explained that Bulog has monitoring and evaluation teams at the central, regional and district/city offices. Bulog also claims to be very strict on monitoring every day, until the distribution is monitored hour by hour.

"We also open a crisis center in each region. We also always monitor, evaluate various sources. There is an evaluation team, looking for information from various media," he explained.
