JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - That day, Wednesday (7/10/2020) at the Kebon Rejo Post Office, Surabaya City, East Java, there was an unusual event for the distribution of Phase VII Social Cash Assistance (BST) while still implementing the health protocol.

In her remarks, the Mayor of Surabaya Tri Rismaharini said that when the aid was handed over when Covid-19 occurred, she was confused because many Surabaya residents did not work anymore.

"We have to treat a large number of patients, because the Covid-19 disease is very malignant. There were so many people who suddenly died," said Risma to Indonesia Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P Batubara.

Risma complained to the Minister of Social Affairs so that the number of BST beneficiaries could be increased because the BST recipients were few. On the other hand, many residents are in need.

"But thank God, the Minister of Social Affairs said yes, I will add it," she explained.

Representing the residents of Surabaya, Risma thanked the Minister of Social Affairs for increasing the number of BST recipients.

Thanks to the assistance from the Minister of Social Affairs, the number of BST receivers was added so that many citizens could receive assistance to support their lives during this pandemic.

The Social Affairs Minister said BST was a direct instruction from Indonesia President Joko Widodo which was channeled through the Ministry of Social Affairs.

"If there is no instruction from the President, I don't think this program will necessarily exist," explained Juliari.

The Minister of Social Affairs hopes that the Beneficiary Families (KPM) can use this assistance as well as possible. One of them is to buy basic daily needs.

"The money received is to buy the most urgent needs. This assistance can be used and utilized as well as possible," hoped Juliari.

In addition, the Minister of Social Affairs expressed his gratitude to all parties who have supported the realization and that every BST program distribution went well.

"I would like to express my gratitude to PT Pos Indonesia as a partner, as well as a special thanks to the Mayor and the Surabaya City Government ranks because the coordination so far has been excellent," said Juliari.
