JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Secretary of the Director General of Social Empowerment at the Indonesia Ministry of Social Affairs Bambang Sugeng says this year's Heroes Day commemoration will host the theme of "My Heroes of All Time." This theme was deliberately chosen with various considerations.
In the past, heroes were identical with the struggle against the colonialists, which led to Indonesia's independence. In today's era, the meaning of hero can be understood from various meanings.
"They are role models who can bring change and contribute positively in various aspects, from an economic, socio-cultural, artistic, political, and even tourism perspective with local to international scope," said Bambang in a written statement, on Friday (10/30/2020).
Bambang said that in the digital era, many figures have emerged with ideas, works, and contributions that are very much needed and useful. Their works and contributions are not only for themselves, but also for the surrounding communities, regions, nationwide, and even worldwide.
They can be influencers, content creators, sportsmen, young business people, artists, sociopreneurs, animators, and a variety of other emerging jobs.
"Previously, these professions were less well-known, thanks to social media, these professions became viral and was known by the wider communities, and even became a movement to advance Indonesia in a better direction. Some people see them as heroes," Bambang said.
Indonesia President Joko Widodo will act as ceremonial inspector at the Heroes Day Commemoration event at the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery (TMPNU) in Jakarta, on November 10.
Also attending the event will be Vice President KH Ma'ruf Amin, and accompanied by Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P Batubara, and related officials.
At the event, a 60 second silence will also carried out by sounding the siren. At the same time, a flower wreath laying event will also be held in the sea, led by the Chairperson of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani.
