JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesian Ministry of Health, through the Health Human Resources Development and Empowerment Agency, is holding a COVID-19 Vaccination Preparation Workshop. The workshop aims to improve the competence of understanding and skills of medical and health workers related to COVID-19 vaccination.
Special Staff of the Minister of Health for the Improvement of Health Human Resources Dr. Mariya Mubarika said the workshop was important to anticipate disinformation about COVID-19 vaccination.
"This is very important to anticipate the disinformation that has always occurred in handling COVID-19 from the start. The disinformation keeps away from the correct handling of COVID-19," she said, as quoted from the Ministry of Health's website, on Wednesday (11/25/2020).
Based on a survey conducted by the Ministry of Health, WHO, and UNICEF on a total of 115,000 respondents on November 12, 2020, it was found that most (53%) of the public trusted in medical personnel and health workers in obtaining information related to vaccinations.
Dr. Mariya said that in several international journal articles, it was found that medical and health workers hold the key to the success of giving the COVID-19 vaccination. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the basic understanding and information related to COVID-19 vaccination.
"In this workshop, medical and health workers are expected to be the spokespersons for the government in conveying and inviting people to vaccinate in due time, and be able to ward off hoaxes that are always fabricated to worsen the situation," she said.
On this occasion, Dr. Mariya conveyed the directives of Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto, that since the beginning of the mysterious pneumonia in Wuhan City which then spread and became a pandemic around the world, the Indonesian Government had never fooled around in overcoming this problem. This also includes planning giving vaccination as an effort to control a pandemic in the near future.
Indonesia is actively involved in obtaining the COVID-19 vaccine by engaging into solidarity trials with other countries.
In parallel with the research efforts for the discovery of the COVID-19 vaccine, the Ministry of Health has worked to prepare everything related to vaccine procurement, distribution, and the human resources.
