TAWANGMANGU, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesian Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy have again collaborated in health tourism development.

Previously, the two institutions had collaborated in the same field in 2017 and ended in 2020. This collaboration is committed to the development and implementation of Indonesian health tourism, which Indonesia hopes will become an international health tourism destination.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Health Oscar Primadi said that tourism has the potential to contribute to the country's economic recovery during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this agreement, the focus of tourism being developed is medical and fitness tourism. Therefore, many innovations are needed to develop this tourism potential.

"To make this cooperation successful, an ecosystem from upstream to downstream must be built which is not only focused on the health sector," said Oscar, as quoted from the Ministry of Health's website.

Present at the event was the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health Oscar Primadi, representing the Ministry of Health, who was accompanied by the Head of the Center for Health Determinants Analysis and the Head of the Research and Development Center for Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicines (BP2P2TOOT).

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy was represented by Ni Wayan Giri Andayani, Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, who is accompanied by the Deputy for Tourism Products and Activity Organizers and Deputy for Marketing.

In line with this collaboration, Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Giri Andayani said medical health services are not only intended for sick people, but also for beauty. There are several medical health tours that can be combined with wellness and herbal tours. For that, synergy and continuity are needed in the success of this cooperation program.

"The development of health and herbal tourism will certainly support the Proud of Indonesian Products Movement which has been running so far," Giri said.

The sustainable implementation of Indonesian Health Tourism is part of the national development strategy in the tourism and health sector in an integrated manner, and in accordance with national potential, environmental and socio-cultural characteristics.

The inauguration of this collaboration was marked by the signing of a cooperation agreement for the Implementation of Medical, Wellness, and Herbal Tourism in Indonesia, which was carried out in Tawangmangu recently.

This cooperation agreement aims to synergize programs and activities in order to optimize the use of resources in the health and tourism sector as a joint effort in the Implementation of Health Tourism in Indonesia.
