JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs conducts social rehabilitation effort through Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) for drugs users.
"The population of drug victims in Indonesia reaches 3.6 million people," said Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini.
The statement was delivered by the Minister of Social Affairs, who was accompanied by the Director General of Social Rehabilitation Harry Hikmat, in a Narcotics Evidence Destruction Event in the National Narcotics Agency Office, which is located in Cawang, Jakarta, on Wednesday (02/24/2021).
The Head of National Narcotics Agency, Petrus Reinhard, accompanied by Deputy for Eradication Arman Depari and Deputy for Legal Affairs and Cooperation Puji Sarwono, also symbolically gave the War Against Drug clothes to the Minister of Social Affairs.
The Minister of Social Affairs urged all related parties to work together in an effort to save the nation's generation from the dangers of drugs, because it is not only the government's duty, but it is also the nation's duty.
"The duty to save the nation is not only for the government, but it is also our duty. Let's work together to save the nation's generation from the dangers of drugs," the Minister of Social Affairs invites.
In addition, the Minister of Social Affairs also appreciated what the National Narcotics Agency has done in prosecute the perpetrators. As a result, there is no coordination needed between institutions/ministries in handling the dangers of drugs.
"Thank you to all leaders and the National Narcotics Agency who have worked hard to save the nation from the dangers of drugs which is done by the outsiders who want to ruin Indonesia," she says.
The Ministry of Social Affairs manages the social rehabilitations in Jakarta Bambu Apus Drug Hall, Bogor Galih Pakuan Drug Hall, Baturraden Satria Drug Hall, Medan Insyaf Drug Hall, and Takalar Pangurangi Drug Hall.
"The capacity in both Jakarta Bambu Apus Drug Hall and Baturraden Satria Drug Hall is 4,100 people. In Bogor Galih Pakuan Drug Hall, the capacity is 4,700 people. In Medan Insyaf Drug Hall, the capacity is 440 people. Lastly, in Takalar Pangurangi Drug Hall, the capacity is 2,660 people. I believe that the drugs victims can return to their normal lives," Risma said.
To do social rehabilitation, an approach effort, being friendly and embracing, and being communicative are needed. The reason is that every person might be a victim of drugs.
"Every person might be a victim of drugs. That is why an approach effort, being friendly and embracing, and being communicative are important," she said.
Previously, the Ministry of Social Affairs found five drug victims in Mojokerto Districts, East Java. They were found in a community which cared about drug victims. Then, they are in rehabilitation and invited to speak up.
"Out of five children, there are who are interested in opening a café and making shoes. Not long ago, the café was full with customers and the shoe business went well with three workers," said the Minister of Social Affairs.
The Minister of Social Affairs also urged all related parties to fight against drugs and to always promote the against drugs campaign so that the nation's generation can be saved.
"We can do it if we are together. Let’s stop the drugs so that our life can be better. Keep supporting the campaign, because there is no way for God to give a challenge that is beyond our ability. This campaign should be spread out, especially to the teenagers so that Indonesia is not ruined," she added.
