Social Affairs Ministry Sends Compensation to Earthquake Victims in Sulawesi (kemsos)

MAJENE, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs have delivered death compensation for earthquake victims in Majene and Mamuju, West Sulawesi. In accordance with local government data, the Ministry of Social Affairs have sent death compensation to 108 heirs of the earthquake victims who died, with a total of IDR1,620,000,000.

From the local government data that the Ministry of Social Affairs received, 13 heirs are from Majene District, and 95 heirs are from Mamuju. Each person receives IDR15 million compensation.

"The Ministry of Social Affairs coordinates with PT. Bank Mandiri to send the compensation through non-cash mechanism. Therefore, it is hoped that the compensations can be sent properly to the receivers," said Director of Daily Executive Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims Rachmat Koesnadi in Jakarta on Thursday (02/25/2021).

Symbolically, the compensation has been sent to the heirs of earthquake victims by the Minister of Human Development and Culture Coordinator Muhadjir Effendy and Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini on January 28th 2021 in West Sulawesi Province.

According to Rachmat, during the emergency phase, the Ministry of Social Affairs along with the local Social Service have done several things. One of them is distributing the logistic aids to fulfil the basic needs of the disaster victims.

The Ministry of Social Affairs also sent Disaster Alert Cadets (Tagana) for public kitchen services to fulfil the food needs of the disaster affected citizens.

"The Ministry of Social Affairs also conducted intervention of the Psychosocial Support Service to reduce the trauma effects in the victims. In addition, there are identifications for the heirs of the earthquake victims for the compensation delivery plan," he said.

In the emergency phase, the Ministry of Social Affairs has delivered the aid with total value of IDR3,277,380,698. The aid consists of emergency logistic aids, regular rice aids, and ingredients aids for the Field Public Kitchen.

"So, the total of aid that the Ministry of Social Affairs has sent to handle the earthquake disaster in West Sulawesi Province in 2021 is IDR4,897,380,698," Rachmat added.

Commission VIII Monitors Aid Distribution

The death compensation delivery for the death victims due to the West Sulawesi earthquake, which is given to the victims’ heirs, get attention from the citizens’ representatives. The Member of the Indonesian People's Representative Council Commission VIII, H. Arwan M. Aras sends death compensations for 95 million people with a total of IDR1,425,000,000 to Mamuju District on Wednesday (2/24/2021). In that opportunity, the Mamuju Head of Social Service Luthfi Muis was accompanied by the Head of Social Affairs Agency, Fatmawati.

In Majene Districts (Tuesday, February 23rd 2021), H. Arwan M. Aras observed the compensation delivery to 13 million people with the total aid of IDR195,000,000. In this opportunity, he is accompanied by the Sub-directorate Head of Social Recovery and Strengthening from the Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims, Pudak Bektiwidari. The Majene Regent H. Lukman along with the Majene District Regional Leadership Coordination Forum also presents in that activity.
