JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Tropical Cyclone Seroja has caused heavy damages and tremendous material and immaterial losses for the communities around the Provinces of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs invites the private sector and elements of society to work together to ease the burden on people affected by the natural disasters in Nusa Tenggara.
The scale of the disasters and the impact it causes requires the attention and contribution of all elements of the nation. Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini appealed to all elements of the nation, including the private sector, and the general public, to work together with the government and related agencies to help ease the burden on disaster survivors.
"The impact from the flash floods and landslides is tremendous. I urge and invite all elements of the nation, including the private sector, and the wider public to help alleviate the burden of the affected communities both in NTT and NTB," Tri Rismaharini said on Wednesday (04/07/2021).
On this occasion, the Minister of Social Affairs welcomed the representatives from the private sector, namely from PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (PT AMNT), and the founder and CEO of Kitabisa.com Muhammad Alfatih Timur. Also present were actor, comedian, and YouTuber Azevedo Andovireska Adikara da Lopez or Andovi da Lopez, and his brother, Jovial da Lopez. Also visible were representatives of Indonesian intermarriage.
The Social Affairs Minister emphasized that the natural disasters in NTB and NTT were a moment for all elements of society and philanthropists to show an attitude of solidarity and social solidarity.
"The disaster is wide in scale and many areas are affected. Let us work together, help our brothers and sisters who are affected by the disaster," Risma said.
She said she would return to NTT to ensure access to assistance, especially in isolated areas. Currently, assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs is ready to be flown to the disaster sites.
"We will use TNI's Hercules aircraft. Therefore, the Ministry of Social Affairs has asked for help from the TNI Commander to fly the aid. Tomorrow I will fly at 5 am," she said.
From her visit last Monday and Tuesday, the Minister of Social Affairs noted that the readiness of human capitals from the Ministry of Social Affairs, such as the Disaster Preparedness Cadets (Tagana), was quite good. However, due to limited equipment, the food prepared for the refugees did not vary and took a long time to prepare.
"There is no gas stove, for example. So yes it takes a long time to cook. We'll bring the gas stove later. Besides that, we will also deliver dried tempeh, scrambled tempeh, as well as medicines. We are also working on heavy equipment," Risma said.
The Minister of Social Affairs understands the expectation that assistance and aid will arrive quickly. She said that in principle, assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs was ready to be distributed. It's just that because of the disaster, transportation access is constrained by the weather. The weather is also still unpredictable, making transportation difficult to carry goods.
"In Adonara there is no runway for aircraft. This causes aid to be transported by land. So it's not that we don't want to, but we couldn't," she said.
Quoting the official statement of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), data as of Wednesday (04/07/2021) at 14:00 local time, it was recorded that 124 people died, 74 people were missing, 129 people were injured, and 4,465 people were affected. Then, as many as 688 houses were severely damaged, 272 were moderately damaged, and 154 were slightly damaged. It was recorded that 1,962 houses were affected, as many as 87 public facilities, and 24 public facilities were severely damaged.
Responding to Indonesian President Joko Widodo's instructions, the Minister of Social Affairs has moved quickly by visiting number of disaster-affected points in the two provinces. On Monday morning, Risma landed in Bima, NTB Province. The Minister of Social Affairs greeted and provides motivation to disaster survivors there.
"Quickly evacuate and handle disaster victims as well as handle the impact of disasters. Ensure health services, logistical availability, and basic needs of the refugees," the President said on Monday (04/05/2021).
The Minister of Social Affairs said her visit to the disaster areas was to make a quick response to disasters in NTT and NTB as instructed by the President.
"I am here to ensure the availability of logistics, and the basic needs of the refugees are met," said the Minister of Social Affairs when checking disaster management readiness at the Refugee Command Post, Naru Village, Woha District, Bima Regency, NTB.
Then on Tuesday (04/06/2021), the Minister of Social Affairs continued her duties to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Landing at Gewayantana Larantuka Airport, East Flores Regency, NTT Province, Risma and the East Flores Regent left for Adonara Island aboard a BNPB helicopter.
As for disaster survivors in NTT, the Ministry of Social Affairs has distributed aid amounting to IDR2,704,056,695. The aid includes emergency response logistics assistance (buffer stock) of IDR672,056,695; emergency response logistics (direct expenditure) amounting to IDR672,000,000; beneficiary compensation for 83 people, amounting to IDR1,245,000,000; and compensation for seriously injured victims of 23 people with a value of IDR115,000,000.
